The Biblical Zodiac

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handy work. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world...
Psalm 19:1-4

Men have painted frescos painted on the ceilings of prominent buildings such as state capitals to depict important historical events. Should not Father Yahweh put greater ones on the vault of heaven to depict the course of the history of Israel?
Because man is finite, we have no clue about the events of the starting of time except for the explanation that is revealed to us in the Bible. Scientists call this beginning event, “the big bang”, however, whatever you want to call it this event spread white hot matter into random directions of space which is still spreading out and moving away from all other matter even to this day. The complexity in the movement of the stars in the heavens is designed in such a way that would dwarf the complexity of a Swiss watch, a nuclear powered submarine, or a even a space shuttle. One example of the perfect timing of the bodies in space can be readily demonstrated in the story of Joshua's long day, in which, the Father had meteors fall from space to kill his enemies. These meteors were set in motion at the beginning of time so for the stones to fall at a specific place and at a specific time; Joshua 10:11.

The complexity of how space objects are made can be illustrated by the fact that our sun is a fusion reactor, which man cannot duplicate on earth, never the less just having it floating in space in a predictable orbital pattern. Although complex man made objects here on earth may be able to be understood by some individuals, they do in fact need teams of people working to design and build such projects.

The stars of the sky are divided into grouped constellations that represent things found on earth. There are 88 such groupings of stars that form pictures for those who look up, I am only planning to discuss 13 constellations today. The first 12 are commonly known as the Biblical Zodiac that forms the biblical story about the Nation of Israel. I have briefly mentioned this zodiac in another post. a couple of years ago. Because the signs of this zodiac form a circle in the sky is in a 360 degree circle around the earth, there has to be a place where the story begins and ends, a joining so to speak which is between Virgo and Leo (a woman and a lion). This is the same joining of a woman with a lion that is represented by the Sphinx of Egypt, the Sphinx of course was built by Israelites. Near the Sphinx, the Great Pyramid stands as a silent witness Isa 19:20. Adam Rutherford wrote a series of books titled "Pyramidology" for those who want more information. For those who are diligent enough to look skyward for these star groupings, the stars of the Biblical Zodiac fall in sequential order, in other words Virgo is between Leo and Libra in the sky, etc. So when you find one, just look to the left or right for the others.

The signs of the zodiac with associated verses that help to explain the story of Israel's redemption are:
The Incarnate son (Virgo-Virgin) Matt 1:23
The Redeemer (Libra-Scales) Matt 20:28
The Sufferer (Scorpio-Scorpion) 2 Cor 5:21
The Conqueror (Sagittarius- Archer) 1 John 3:8
The Sacrifice (Capricorn-Goat) Hebrews 9:12
The Living Water (Aquarius-Water-Bearer) John 4:13-14
The Liberator (Pisces- Fishes) Mark 1:17
The Crowned Lamb (Aries- Ram) John 1:29
The Judge (Taurus- Bull) John 5:22
The King (Gemini-Twins) Rev 19:7
The Protector (Cancer-Crab) John 10:27-28
The Victor (Leo-Lion) Rev 5:5

Another grouping worthy of being mentioned is the constellation of Orion that depicts Jesus Christ as the returning Prince; Job 9:9, Job 38:31 and Amos 5:8. In Job 38:31 the question is asked: “Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?” Pleiades is the seven star cluster in the neck of the constellation of Taurus (the Bull). The association of Taurus depicts a bull rushing forward with mighty energy and fierce wrath. With this the Messiah is depicted as coming to judge and rule over all the earth; Isaiah 42:13.

The constellation of Orion is easily found by the three stars in a row found on Orion's belt. Below the belt is a section of space called the Orion Nebula. This nebula is the most studied part of the sky because of the intricate designs and colors of the objects in this small patch of space makes it very visible. This area has been described as “torn and twisted objects, rivers of shining glass, irregular pillars, and columns of stalactites in glittering splendor and stalagmites from the mighty floor. The appearance is like that of light shining and glowing behind clear walls of ivory and pearl, studded with millions of stars.”.
Because the Orion Nebula is bright, it can be seen without a telescope when the viewer is away from city lights.

I know it's not likely that very many are interested in this subject, I felt it was important before progressing in Revelation to let others know some of the ancient stories associated with the stars. I've only talked about a few of the constellations in an effort to keep it brief, I do want others to know that there is a science of studying the stars and the story that they represent.

Praise the Lord for his handy work!

  1. Just wanted to say great post. After reading it it got me very interested in this subject. Maybe later on after you go through revelation you could go deeper into this subject. I also wanted to tell you that you are doing a great job on revelation study. Praise Yahweh!!!

-Hope you are having a great start to the new year...Brother Erik

  2. Hi Brother Erik, I am glad to hear from you and want to encourage you to add comments at will. I can tell how many people have looked at this blog since I started it over 3 years ago and know there has been over 12,000 views with very few comments. Either 12,000 people have looked at it, or the government has looked at it 12,000 times,LOL. Either way, I'm glad to get the message out to someone even though I don't know exactly with whom or where the seed is being planted; Mark 4. Praise Yahweh! Although there's information about the zodiac to be found for those who search, I do want to try to keep everyone focused on the details found in the Bible by encouraging others to objectively search the scriptures for themselves. Another concern is that that some may confuse what I could write about the zodiac with the pseudo (false) teaching of astrology. I want to encourage you to keep working for his kingdom and stay in touch. Brother Frank
