The Second woe was sounded. (The Bible
describes the last three trumpets as woes because of the curses put
upon the inhabitants of the earth); Revelation 8:13. A voice then
sounded from the Golden alter commanded the sixth Angel with the
trumpet to “Loose the four angles which are bound in the great rive
Euphrates.” Revelation 9:13-14
The Bible does not specifically state
who these four angels are. I have read a couple of varying opinions to
their identity. One specific idea is that the four angels (Cherubims)
are the angels that guarded the tree of life in the Garden of Eden;
Genesis 3:24.
If this idea or concept is correct then that would mean that the Tree
of Life, and the Garden of Eden for that matter, was located at, or
in, the present location of the Euphrates river. Although I do think
the Garden of Eden was very close to this location, I have
reservations believing this is the correct meaning, and I am just putting
it out there so that other people can make up their own mind on this
subject.
What
I think I can safely share about these four angels is that they are
the very same angels of Revelation 7:1
that were set in motion to begin destroying the earth before they
were abruptly stopped by another angel of an unknown name. Admittedly
it's speculation and conjecture on my behalf but, I believe the angel
that stopped these four angels in Revelation 7:1 and later is to bind Satan in Revelation 20:1-2 is named Abaddon or Apollyon, according to Revelation 9:11.
According to the book Pilgrims progress, the author wrongfully refers to Apollyon as Satan in his epic battle with Christian.
.
When
these four angels were set loose their mission was to torment and
destroy 1/3 of the humanoid unrepentant occupying the earth during a
given 150 day period using a 200 million man army of horsemen. The
physical description of these horsemen according to Revelation 9:17
is: “...them
that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and
brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions;
and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.”
Verses18and19
go on to state that men were killed by fire, smoke, and brimstone
coming from their mouths, and had power in their tails to hurt. A
parallel passage describing these horsemen in more detail is found in
Joel
2:4-10.
It's a matter of opinion from whence these
horsemen came. Some believe that they are a literal, physical, and
temporal army that comes from the modern armies of the world with
their war machines being described by John the author of Revelation
in the vernacular of his day. I have a hard time believing this to be
the case because it's the unrighteous that are being destroyed by
this army and if the unrighteous are controlling the planet at the
time, then would it make sense that the unrighteous are destroying
the unrighteous? Another piece of the puzzle is the fact that the
Bible does not state that this army came from the same “bottomless
pit” of Revelation 9:1. So to
me it would make more sense to believe this army is a spiritual army
consisting of angels. If you have a different opinion then feel free
to leave a comment.
The Bible states that after all the death and
destruction that came from the direction of the Messiah, they still
did not repent of their murders, sorceries, their fornication, nor of
their thefts. Modern contemporary thought will simply explain away
these events to global warming or some other idea given over to a
make believe boogeyman to frighten people and to get them to follow
the leaders of that time. The people who rule the planet know that
when people are afraid they will follow anyone. A basic example of
what I am talking about is if someone was being chased by a gang of
animals and an unknown person pulls up next to you in a vehicle and
says “if you want to live then get in”, most people will follow
the instructions and jump into a car with a stranger and not use
their God given faith to discern if the driver of the car is actually
with the gang of animals chasing them or not.
I pray that all will study the scriptures daily
to distinguish the difference between fear and faith, because the
Bible makes it clear. You either have one, or you have the other.
The
fear of man bringeth a snare: but, whoso putteth his trust in the
LORD shall be safe.
Proverbs 29:25
Make sure you pray to the Father daily and
thank him for your blessings to include your faith that overcomes
fear.
