The Writing On The Wall

The Bible contains many codes in which those who are curious enough to investigate can find a treasure trove of information and signs of authenticity. Daniel Chapter 5 contains one such bit of information that is worth while knowing.

The writing itself, is believed to be in the Chaldean/Neo Aramaic language, in which Daniel obviously was an expert in. Daniel needed to be knowledgeable in many different languages due to the number of different peoples, languages, cultures, and gods that were brought into Babylon and were unified under the one world gods of gold and silver by King Nebuchadnezzar.

The writing on the wall was interpreted by Daniel. According to the Bible the message was: Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin; meaning "God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians."

This writing also contains another meaning or numeric message which is discovered when you translate the message from Chaldean to Hebrew, you can produce another message which is indicated with numbers which is expressed in Gerahs. This information can be found on page 125 in the American Institute of Theology correspondence course, and in the book "Study In Daniel" by Dr. Howard B. Rand pg.152-153.

Chaldean Neo-Aramaic                               Hebrew                                              Value

  Mene                                                          Minah                                                1,000
  Mene                                                          Minah                                                1,000
  Tekel                                                          Shekel                                                    20
  Up harsin                                                    Peres                                                    500

                                                                                                                   Total 2,520 Gerahs
The number of 2,520 is significant as it is the number of of "Seven Times" as written in the book of Leviticus Chapter 26.

During the last century, it was considered by many to be the number of years that the Babylonian empire will last upon the earth prior to the return of the Messiah. However, considering the Babylonian Captivity was in 586 B.C. and lasted 70 years meant that this time was around 516 B.C. adding 2,520 years to the 516 comes to the year 2004. We are already now at 2015 and counting. Unless of course our calendar is off by at least 10 years or better, or some other mitigating factor is present.

Another problem I have with this number representing the number of years that Babylon has until it ceases to exist and the Messiah returns, is in the fact that the Messiah tells us in Matthew 24:36 that no man knows the day or hour of his return. In other words if any man tells you a time when the Messiah will return then it is a lie because no man knows when, not even the Messsiah. If it was a just a matter of a simple math problem then the Messiah could have easily have done that.

I still believe that this number 2,520 is still a significant number and does have meaning. Although it is not clear to me at the moment, I do want to bring it to everyone's attention that it does exist. For more information about the 2,520 years which I have posted about before, click HERE.

This is a short video of Daniel 5 that I think is worth watching.

Praise the Lord for his word and the authenticity that is written within to prove to those who seek its meaning!
